Bio Toxin Issues with Flooded Automobiles from Hurricane Katrina

The Federal Trade Commission, North American Auto Dealer Association, AAA and many consumer watch dog groups have all warned us about buying flooded cars from Hurricane Katrina. But what happens if these cars are taken to a landfill, crushed and then buried? Sounds like a plan right; I mean no poor consumer ends up with an ultimate soggy lemon car that will have problems forever.Yet what if they had been in that toxic water in New Orleans for three weeks? Lord only knows what could be growing in there. So if you bury it you would not necessarily get rid of the bio toxins, in fact you might have actually put the contaminants under a future park, playground or golf course, as so often landfills when completed are used for such?.This issue recently came up in an online think tank when one member, Swift from Las Vegas stated; "Yes, but if they go to landfill, then the problem is multiplied.

It makes a lot of sense to have centers in the areas where natural disasters typically happen that would recycle the material close at hand.".Indeed this makes sense recycle the cars and take them apart right there sterilize them and then ship the parts to the smelter or recycling centers which deal with glass, plastics, rubber and metal. If we will think these issues through in advance, we maybe able to prevent terrible future events, so, consider this in 2006.
